Design for Learning Environments: admissions requirements

To be eligible to apply for the Online PGCert Design for Learning Environments, you will need to have obtained (or be predicted to obtain) an upper second-class degree or equivalent from a UK university or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

If you do not meet the academic entry criteria, we will accept applications with a second-class degree or equivalent qualification from a UK university or recognised institution with evidence of at least 2 years of relevant work experience in design, computing, or education. We also accept applications with no degree but 5+ years of work experience in the fields listed.

We welcome applicants with an appetite for learning. Since this programme combines modules from multiple disciplines, expect to cover coding and maths, starting at secondary schooling level and above.

Evidence of language (if applicable)If English is not your first language, you will need to also supply an up-to-date English language certificate. We accept up to date Academic IELTS certificates with a score of 6.5, and no less than 6.0 in any band.

Transfer credits

We will accept transfer credits from students who study one or more of the following University of Birmingham short courses and wish to transfer onto the full PGCert:

  • Developing digital artefacts for learning
  • Applied data science for learning environments
  • Perspectives on learning
  • Sociotechnical learning environments

Key deadlines

  • We have intakes in spring, summer and autumn
  • Complete taught studies in 12 months
