The University of Birmingham is adding three new online programmes to its pioneering portfolio of distance learning courses.

New for 2021, students will now be able to study 100% online for an MBA Clinical Leadership, MSc Bioinformatics and a PGCert Design for Learning Environments.

The programmes have been developed in response to the growing demand for experienced professionals within these fields and will help students to acquire the specialist knowledge and skills they need to thrive within these fast-growth industries.

The built-for-online programmes are joining our established collection of online postgraduate degrees, which include an Online MBA, Online Masters of Public Administration, Online LLM Energy and Environmental Law and Online MSc International Management.

Each new part-time programme has been designed from the ground up to provide an engaging and interactive online learning experience for busy professionals from all over the world who are looking to excel in their chosen field.

The University of Birmingham is one of the largest providers of distance and blended learning programmes in the UK, including being the first institution in the world to offer both a 100% online AMBA-accredited MBA and MSc International Business.

Online MBA Clinical Leadership

Our new Online MBA Clinical Leadership will be jointly delivered by Birmingham Business School and the Health Services Management Centre.  The course combines business administration modules from our AMBA-accredited Online MBA, with three additional healthcare focused modules; clinical leadership; governance, policy and regulation in health organisations; and digital health.

The programme has been launched to meet the growing demand for strategic leaders within the global healthcare sector who are equipped with the skills needed to address the growing challenges facing health services today. Students will learn to combine sound business leadership skills with an in-depth understanding of the frameworks and challenges that are specific to global healthcare.

Online MSc Bioinformatics

Connecting up-to-the-minute topics from biology and computer science, the Online MSc Bioinformatics will enable students to apply data science principles to cutting-edge health and life science research.

Expertly adapted for online audiences from our campus-based programme – which is ranked top-20 in the UK for both Biology and Computer Science1 – this popular multi-disciplinary programme will now be accessible to aspiring bioinformaticians from around the world.

Students will learn how to communicate and interact with complex data sets and gain hands-on experience of data coding, which will enable them to develop the practical skills they need for a bright future in this rapidly growing field.

Online PGCert Design for Learning Environments

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for online education – and experts who can effectively deliver it – has never been higher.

Focused on the philosophy of teaching, the Online PGCert for Learning Environments combines art with science to enable students to learn how to create better learning experiences and outcomes in the online space.

This multi-disciplinary programme prepares students for careers in both education and corporate training, and is delivered by a university which is already a leader in the field of online education delivery.

In addition, students also have the option to study online short courses in Design for Learning Environments, enabling them to upskill in specific areas of the curriculum in just 8 weeks. Each short course is worth 10 masters credits, which can be used towards the Online PGCert Design for Learning Environments, should students chose to embark on the full programme of study at a later date.
