Train with Deloitte through the Online MBA

For ambitious managers looking to fulfill their professional potential, there are many reasons to choose the Online MBA.

It is AMBA-accredited, delivered by the globally-renowned Birmingham Business School and enables you to study without taking time away from your career. The programme offers several opportunities to learn from industry and you can even visit campus for optional workshops – which is what five Online MBA students did earlier this year when they participated in the Deloitte Consultancy Challenge.

The Deloitte Consultancy Challenge

Spanning one week, the Deloitte Consultancy Challenge is an intensive learning experience open to all MBA students studying at the Birmingham Business School.

Students receive specialist training from Deloitte directors, managers and partners, before putting their newly-acquired knowledge to the test within a simulated business scenario, complete with role-play board sessions, briefings and presentations.

“One of the pivotal aspects of the challenge is when the MBA teams actually meet the board of their client, the members of which are played by Deloitte directors and partners,” explains Andrew Miles, Corporate Relations Manager at Birmingham Business School.

“We film the sessions, which allows the MBA students to deconstruct their performance immediately afterwards, with the help of the Deloitte facilitators.”

The challenge provides a unique opportunity for Online MBA students to hone their skills in communication, negotiation and conflict resolution, with guidance from those at the pinnacle of business consultancy.

Learn from and network with the best

Students found the Deloitte Consultancy Challenge an invaluable supplement to their studies. Onur Kiyici was recommended to participate by one of his peers and describes it as “Consultancy 101.”

“In the first session, we were asked what we wanted to learn about consultancy by the end of the week. By then, all our questions were answered,” he says.

“As an engineer, it’s really important for me to learn about today’s business environment. I had a real sense of consultancy at the end of the week and I found it really interesting how the consultants work. I am considering becoming one in the future.”

As well as world-class training, the Challenge enables participants to network and form professional connections with leading Deloitte consultants.

“It’s very active and demanding on the students, and also on us at Deloitte as we sit across the other side. It’s a great opportunity for both sides to build relationships and relate to each other,” says Paul Sanders, Director of Deloitte LLP.

“Deloitte has chosen to work with Birmingham Business School primarily because of its reputation and the quality of student it provides to industry and commerce as a whole.”
