[MUSIC PLAYING] ALEX CLAYBROOK: Today is the end of a very exciting week, where we train your MBA students in what it’s like to be a management consultant, and we scrutinize their presentations and probably do a bit of pressure to make them think on their feet.
ASHLEIGH STENT: This morning, we’ve been doing a lot of role play and prep for today’s session, a lot of rehearsing just to practice ahead of the very intense Q&A session that we had today. It’s been great.
LIZ MAY: It’s really exciting to see people spending their time thinking about consultancy in this way and thinking about a different challenge, thinking about a different area that they might go into. So yeah, really great opportunity.
GURMINDER KHAIRA: It’s important for us to be playing our role in terms of development, being supporting to the University, providing some opportunity in terms of what it’s like in the life of consultancy and giving some of that exposure to people on the MBE program. Harnessing the various skill sets that they bring to the program, and giving the safe opportunity to test those out in a playful, but yet serious example and case study.
JONATHAN NJOKU: You would never get that experience anywhere else. Where would you get the experience of being in a boardroom of such senior people, and then get feedback on your performance? I think it’s a really amazing experience and opportunity.
ASHLEIGH STENT: I think the MBA is one of the best in the country, and the Deloitte Challenge, I would say to anybody, if you are just preparing to go into the workforce, it gives you the best simulation that you could hope for in preparing you for real-world scenarios. Because it’s not just about what happens in the boardroom, it’s how to work together. It’s a lot of feedback on yourself as well. So it’s very introspective and a lot of observations. So for that, I think it’s an invaluable.

The Birmingham MBA Deloitte Consultancy Challenge
For over a decade we’ve partnered with Deloitte to deliver an intensive consultancy training week offered exclusively to MBA students. This intensive and immersive experience is designed to simulate the world of management consultancy, and forms an optional part of the Birmingham online MBA experience. Students praise the Deloitte Consultancy Challenge as being one of the most stimulating and rewarding experiences on the programme. The Association of MBAs also recently awarded Birmingham Business School the ‘Best Business School Partnership’ at the International AMBA awards in recognition of this challenge.

[MUSIC PLAYING] NTANDOKAZI KHESWA: I’m very happy to be given this opportunity by the University of Birmingham to study here. It became the best decision ever. I have gained a lot from the university and I want to take my skills that I have acquired here and mentor upcoming business people in South Africa.
GEORGINA LEE: I chose to study the Birmingham MBA program for a few reasons. Being able to blend online learning with on campus learning offered me the flexibility that I needed at this point in my career.
SCOTT KEGLEY: Prestige of the university was extremely important. And being one of the top 100 universities in the world is fantastic to be a part of.
NTANDOKAZI KHESWA: The MBA program is structured in a way that will elevate you in all the aspects of life, not in the business world only. That has really matured me in the aspects of the business.
ANDREW DALE: It was an intense 12-month period. So you’re relying on yourself to be able to really be relentless in your commitment to the program, but through that commitment comes a huge reward. And I think you will see that the University of Birmingham MBA program is an exceptional choice.
GEORGINA LEE: The main highlight for the Birmingham MBA program was the additional engagement opportunities that the university offer. For example, the Deloitte Consulting challenge, the MBA symposium, and also the flexibility to engage in and do modules on campus. I think a real value add is my ability to think strategically and critically that I’ve gained throughout my studies. And also the ability to work with really diverse teams.
SCOTT KEGLEY: The faculty and the way that they interact with you and the friends that you make as part of the program, they’re going to be lifelong friends. I mean, they were so well educated and the impact that they have on you lasts much longer than just your time here at the university.
ANDREW DALE: Now that the University of Birmingham is delivering its MBA program across three campuses, in Birmingham, Dubai, and Singapore, I think that opens up a fabulous opportunity for students from those countries and those countries nearby to benefit from the University of Birmingham.
NTANDOKAZI KHESWA: Firstly, it’s hard, but do not quit. Try and push as much as you can. When it gets tough, just remember the reason you decided to enroll in the first place and keep that going.
